Our specialties

  • Tree and Stump Removal

When Tree Removal is Necessary There are several reasons tree removal may be required: • Diseased or Dead Trees: Removing these trees prevents hazards and protects other trees in your landscape. • Safety Risks: Trees growing too close to power lines, buildings, or other structures can pose significant safety concerns. • Storm Damage: Unstable trees resulting from severe weather often need removal to prevent further damage. • Structural Issues: Trees with cracks, leaning trunks, or weakened root systems may need to be removed to avoid accidents. • Wrong Location: Trees grow to their genetic potential, and sometimes it’s better to remove a young tree early to avoid costly removal in the future. Replanting with a more suitable species can maintain the balance of your landscape. Our Tree Removal Process We follow ANSI A300 standards to ensure safe and efficient tree removal: • Assessment: Our arborists evaluate the tree and surrounding area to determine the safest removal strategy. • Felling: Where space permits, we guide the tree safely to the ground using directional cuts, wedges, machinery, and ropes. • Aerial Lift/ Climbing Technicians: Our Platform Lift can fit through a 36” gate and reach up to 89 feet high with 50 feet of side reach. Equipped with specialized tools like a throw ball, large slingshot, and hundreds of feet of rope, our team can access and remove trees in even the most confined or challenging locations. No tree is inaccessible to us, ensuring safe and precise removal regardless of the situation. • Rigging: We utilize the most advanced rigging gear and, combined with our team’s expertise, we can safely handle the most complex tree removals. Our knowledge and equipment allow us to manage trees in challenging locations or with structural issues, making even the most technical removals look easy while ensuring the safety of your property. • Post-Removal Cleanup: Our motto is to leave the job-site cleaner than when we found it, so we utilize things such as ground protection to protect your yard, and we rake up the yard of debris and material. Stump Removal & Tree Replanting After removing a tree, stump grinding eliminates surface roots and ensures your yard is safe and tidy. Our services don’t stop there—we also offer tree replanting to help restore your landscape. We assist with selecting and planting the right tree for your property. Replanting services include: • Species Recommendations: Based on your landscape, soil, and site conditions. • Proper Planting and Care Plans: To ensure the long-term success and growth of your new tree. • Pruning and Trimming

Why Tree Pruning and Trimming Are Essential Tree pruning and trimming are critical for not just aesthetics but also the overall health and longevity of your trees. Whether addressing co-dominant stems, overgrown branches, or weak unions, proper pruning can prevent future issues while strengthening your tree’s structure and reducing safety risks. Our services focus on: • Improving Tree Structure: Structural pruning encourages a single, dominant leader, reducing branch competition and eliminating weak unions or rubbing branches. • Reducing Risk: Strategic pruning reduces the risk of branch failure, ensuring safety, especially during storms. • Enhancing Health and Growth: Regular trimming removes dead, diseased, or overcrowded branches, allowing your tree to focus on healthy growth and development. Our Pruning & Trimming Services Structural Pruning Structural pruning is essential for young trees, promoting a strong branch framework by encouraging a central leader, reducing competing branches, and addressing structural defects like co-dominant stems. Early pruning minimizes future risks and helps ensure long-term stability. Clearance Pruning Clearance pruning maintains safe distances between trees and nearby structures like homes, sidewalks, or utility lines. We ensure at least 10 feet of clearance from roofs and 10-12 feet from the ground, protecting your property and improving safety. End-Weight Reduction For mature trees, end-weight reduction reduces the size and weight of branches, managing torque loads and lowering the risk of limb failure due to wind, ice, or snow. This method preserves tree health while mitigating potential risks without resorting to harmful topping practices. Dead Wooding Dead or broken limbs pose hazards, especially in urban environments. Our dead wooding service removes these limbs, reducing the risk of falling branches while improving the overall health and safety of your tree. Benefits of Pruning and Trimming • Improved Structural Integrity: Pruning strengthens tree architecture, reducing the risk of storm damage. • Extended Lifespan: Removing weak, diseased, or dead branches helps trees live longer and enhances your landscape’s beauty and value. • Increased Safety: Regular trimming reduces the risk of falling branches, protecting people and property. • Enhanced Aesthetics: Well-maintained trees boost your property’s curb appeal and overall value.

Frequently asked questions

Question

Why is pruning important for my tree’s health?

Pruning young trees helps correct structural issues early, saving money on more complex interventions when the tree matures. For mature trees, pruning reduces the risk of whole tree or branch failure by applying end-weight reduction to high-aspect ratio, over-extended, or defective branches. This process decreases torque load at the branch’s bending point, reducing the likelihood of failure.

Question

When is the best time to prune my trees?

Most trees can be pruned year-round, depending on your goals. If you want to slow growth, pruning after leaf-out reduces the tree’s energy intake by removing some of the leaf mass, which is where trees take in energy. To promote growth, pruning later in the year or during dormancy allows the tree to store more energy for the next growing season. However, Oaks and Elms should not be pruned from April to mid-October, as beetles active during this time can spread diseases like Dutch Elm Disease and Oak Wilt.

Question

Should I hire a professional arborist for pruning?

Yes, an ISA Certified Arborist® follows ANSI A300 Standards for pruning and understands the specific needs of different tree species. Each species responds differently to pruning due to genetic variance, making it critical to know what, how, and when to prune. We are passionate about stewarding our urban forest and helping to manage trees that inspire thought and curiosity about the living things around us.

Question

How do I know if a tree needs removal?

If your tree is showing signs of disease, decay, significant leaning, or damage from storms, it may require removal. Common indicators include dead branches, hollow trunks, fungal growth, or structural instability. At Edmonds Tree & Landscape Service, our certified arborists will assess the tree and provide expert recommendations tailored to your property’s safety and aesthetics.

Question

What is the cost of tree removal?

The cost of tree removal depends on factors such as: • Tree Size: Larger trees require more time, equipment, and labor. • Condition: Trees in poor condition or with structural instability may involve additional safety measures. • Location: Accessibility plays a role; trees near structures or utilities may increase costs. We offer free consultations and estimates. For a better idea of pricing, refer to our Delaware, Ohio Tree Removal Pricing Sheet below: Tree Size Estimated Cost Small (up to 15 feet) $150–$500 Medium (15–40 feet) $500–$1,200 Large (40–80 feet) $1,200–$3,000 Extra-Large (80+ feet) $3,000+ Additional Costs: • Stump Grinding: $75–$300 depending on stump size. • Emergency Removal: Add 20–50% for urgent services. • Replanting: Typically starts at $300, including tree and planting materials.

Question

Do you offer replanting after tree removal?

Yes, we specialize in tree replanting services to restore your landscape after removal. We’ll help you choose a species that complements your property and thrives in Delaware’s climate. Our replanting process includes proper planting techniques such as root crown excavation, staking, and the use of watering bags for optimal growth.
